It should be alright to take an anti inflamatory like ibuprofen or tylenol, which will not alter your mental status. but you may want to avoid any norcotic medication, drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration of the muscle.
What do you think? Answer below!
It would be okay to take Aleve or Ibuprofen. Tylenol does not help inflammation like the other two do.
Just remember that if you take something not to overdo it in workouts or you’ll injure yourself further.
It is completely fine to take OTC pain medications like Paracetamol/acetaminophen (Panadol, Tylenol). Or NSAID’s like aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen (all available over the counter). If you are talking about trying prescription meds I would not take an opioid (narcotics) especially when doing sport. But if OTC drugs are not enough then other NSAID’s like Ketoprofen or Ketorolac (Toradol) can be very helpful. But Toradol should only be used for a short period of time. So yes- pain meds are fine. And in some countries Ketoprofen is available as a topical gel and is typically very effective.
